New Resources: HMIS Capacity Building NOFA

HUD is committed to ending homelessness and believes good, reliable information is essential to that effort. Some Continuums of Care (CoCs) have an Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) infrastructure that is nimble and has the capacity to adapt to ever-changing information needs. Others struggle and would benefit from funding dedicated to improving HMIS. In November 2018 HUD published an HMIS Capacity Building Project Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) to help communities improve their CoC’s HMIS. New Resources Did you miss the HMIS NOFA Office Hours held on December 12, 2018? The materials from the Office Hours are now available on the training page …

FY 2019 VA Data Guide Added

One key resource used to ensure grantees are meeting program goals is the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Web-based software application. Per the SSVF Final Rule, grantees are required to enter data into this system. This data consists of information on the participants served and the types of supportive services provided by grantees. Grantees are then required to export client-level data for activities funded by the SSVF Program to the VA Repository on a monthly basis. The FY 2019 VA Data Guide can be found on this site at: https://hmishelp.com/coc_program_manuals/, on the VA site at https://www.va.gov/homeless/ssvf/index.asp?page=/official_guide/homeless_management_info_system, or directly by clicking …

Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Letter on the Impact of Viral Suppression

Housing serves as a critical base for providing HIV care and services, and we believe it is important for housing providers to ensure that the people living with HIV (PLWH) served in your programs have consistent access to adequate HIV medical care. In October 2018, the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau released a letter outlining recommendations for Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program recipients and subrecipients for incorporating messages on the impact of viral suppression on HIV transmission in service delivery settings. The letter highlights that several large studies have demonstrated that PLWH who achieve consistent viral suppression do …

Veteran homelessness in the U.S. continues to decline according to a new national estimate announced today by HUD Secretary Ben Carson.
